Staying Safe on TraderOnline

For the most part, shopping online is totally safe; with online classifieds, most people want to do right by their neighbors and local communities. While sellers and buyers usually have nothing to fear, every so often we see or hear of new scams. At TraderOnline, we are taking a strong stance to fight scammers and we want to make you aware of our actions to allow you to better protect yourself.

Protect Yourself

While most listings are perfectly legitimate, as with any financial transaction, you should always take steps to protect yourself.

At TraderOnline, we believe classifieds are best done locally. The easiest way to ensure that you are getting what you want is to go see it in person. These pages contain basic safety guidelines when using online classifieds, which include some basic precautionary measures we recommend taking to ensure a positive and successful experience.

Basic Safety Guidelines

  1. Trust your gut (if it seems too good to be true, it probably is).
  2. Never send or wire money through Moneygram or Western Union, especially overseas.
  3. Meet the seller and see the item in person before you buy.
  4. TraderOnline DOES NOT sell "Buyer Protection" or "Seller Certification"
  5. Report suspicious activity to fraud@traderonline.com
